Jeffboat Delivers The Thruston B. Morton

Shortly after the motor vessel Thruston B. Morton was christened on July 8, 1978, at the River Front Plaza in Louisville, Ky., she joined the fleet of American Commercial Lines, Inc., moving tows on the inland waterways system. The vessel was named to honor Thruston B.

 

Northwest Marine Iron Works Awarded $8-Million Navy Contract

The Portland, Ore.-based Northwest Marine Iron Works has started a 10-month overhaul of the USS Meyerkord under a $8.8-million contract. The pact is the third long-term contract awarded to Northwest Marine Iron Works by the Navy in the past two years.

Siemens has been awarded a contract by Pennsylvania Shipbuilding Company of Chester, Pa., to supply the PTO generating systems for three Navy oilers, the T-AO 191, 192 and 194. Each shipset consists of two 2,500-kw constant frequency PTO generators being driven off the main reduction gear.
